Action Plan
An Action Plan is a plan for making a teaching change that will enhance your students understanding of mathematics.

Describe your teaching situation
Name DeHaven Hill
School Oroville High School
Teaching assignment Algebra II, Health & Fitness
Describe your student population (approximate number, ethnicity, language, etc)

300 grades 9-12,, Caucasian, Spanish/ English and Spanish
Describe your teaching change
What teaching change (instruction, assessment, materials) you like to improve? Explain how your teaching change will improve your students’ ability to learn mathematics. Also, describe possible ways that technology might assist you in making your teaching change.
Going to try do some standards based grading with my students so they know what the target is. Not putting a grade on homework but making comments on the paper. Not counting homework for very many points.
Going to do a better job with my formative assessments to make sure students are learning what is being taught. If not then make instructional changes so students are meeting the standards.
Plan on trying to incorporate some complex learning (goups of 4).
Would like to use fathom and interactive in class to help students with their understanding of the match standards that we will be going over.
Would also like to use blogging for student comments and self help with each other.
Set Teaching Goals
Identify at least two teaching goals (measurable accomplishment that if met would enable your students to learn mathematics more effectively).
100% of my students will use complex learning as a technique to learn math more effectively.
100% of my students will use blogging for communication and learning purposes.
Describe Teaching Actions
Describe at least two things you are going to do as a teacher to accomplish your teaching goals. These actions may or may not use technology but if they do not use technology, explain why technology is or is not the best teaching tool for your teaching change.
I am going to start using complex learning in my classroom when appropriate.
Plan on using Fathom and any other interactive materials that can assist in their learning. Want to start blogging(don' t know if school will allow it) to get feedback from students and also self help among them.
Assess Teaching Goals
Identify how you are going to assess each of your teaching goals (simple method of collecting information to see if your teach goals was met).
1) After complex learning use formative assessments to see if students are learning and meeting the standards.
2) Track to see if all students are blogging at least twice a week.
Timeline
Outline a general timeline that identifies when you are going to use your actions, collect your assessment data
By midterm of first quarter I will have incorporated complex learning in my classroom to a point where all students are able to successfully work in groups to meet the standards.
By midterm of first quarter I will have my blog set up where all students are actively participating in the blog on a weekly basis.
Reflection
Write a reflection on the results of your action plan. What was difficult? What worked well? How did your students react to the changes you made? What was the impact on student learning?
